What do I do after logging into TelTel?

If your Friend List is empty, you can add friends to your Friend List. Regardless of whether or not your friend is already a TelTel user, it's easy to communicate. Simply click on the "Add a Friend" button and the Invitation Wizard will help you add more friends to your Friend List. (To learn more details, click here).

Once your friend accepts your invitation, he/she will appear in your Friend List. Select your friend's name with the mouse, click on the "Call" button and start your instant voice conversation.

You can also double-click on the friend's name, or select and click on the "IM" button to start an instant text conversation.

When waiting for friends to come online, we recommend that you use our Tuning Wizard to correct your microphone and headset settings. The Tuning Wizard will help to ensure that your headset functions properly. To access the Tuning Wizard, please click on the menu items: Tools >> Tuning Wizard.

How do I make a call using TelTel?

To call a TelTel user who is not on your Friend List, type his/her email address in the text field at the bottom of your control panel, and click on the "Dial" button.

I need to talk to a friend who is rarely online/available. What can I do?

Can other people who use my computer also use TelTel?

Of course. However, you may want anyone else who uses your computer to get his/her own TelTel account since each account is associated with a single Friend List.

How do I start an instant text conversation?

There are three ways to do that:

  1. Click on the instant text conversation button at the main window and select your friend's name. A text conversation window will appear and you can start typing.
  2. Select your friend, then click on the instant text conversation button on the main window. A text conversation window will appear and you can start typing.
  3. Select your friend, right-click on your mouse, then select "Start a Text Conversation" from the menu. An text conversation window will appear and you can start typing.

How do I launch the dial-pad?

On the bottom half of the main screen, on the right-hand side, you'll find an arrow button. Click on this button to display the dial-pad. Click on the reverse arrow button to hide it again. You can use the dial-pad to enter the number you want to dial. You can also use it to enter an extension number.

What is the timestamp and how do I display/hide it?

A timestamp indicates when a text message has been sent or received. To display or hide the timestamp, just click on the timestamp button on your text conversation window. Click on it again to hide or display the timestamp.

How do I invite a friend who is already a TelTel user?

If you know his/her TelTel account, simply follow these easy steps:

  1. Click on the "Add a Friend" button in the main window.
  2. Choose "Invite by Email" and click "Next."
  3. At the system's prompting, enter your friend's TelTel account.
  4. The system will search our database. If your friend's account is found, an invitation will be sent. The next time your friend launches TelTel, he/she will see your invitation. If the email account is not found, you can send an invitation email to that account, or to another account, in order to invite your friend to become a TelTel Friend.

How do I remove a friend?

Select a friend and right-click on the mouse. Select the "Remove the Friend" option, which will automatically remove your friend from your Friend List. However, please note that this friend will continue to receive your presence information, and he/she can still invite you to a voice or text conversation.
